Our Quartets

We have a number of registered quartets in Hernando Harmonizers that we are very proud of. They are available to perform as well. If your next event would be enhanced by some intimate four-part harmonies, have a look our quartets:

PINE CHORDS

The Pine Chords are very well known throughout Hernando County. These four friends, three being residents of Timber Pines, have decades of "barbershopping" experience, yet still exhibit the youthful exuberance that you'd expect only from men many years their junior.
Singing tenor is Joe Pizzo who joined the Hernando Harmonizers in 2006. Joe became a "Barbershopper" in 1974 in Queens, NY after singing lead with a rock and roll band. Joe has sung everything from classical to a cappella doo wop and is presently the first tenor of the oldies tribute band “The Crests”.
Singing lead is Jerry McPhail, who has also served as the chorus's director for three years. Jerry is a founding member of the Hernando County Chapter.
Singing bass is Bob Barnard. Upon moving to Florida in 2010, he became a member of the Hernando County chapter. Bob joined the Pine Chords in March of 2012. Bob is new to Barbershop but is learning to fit into the chorus, and the Pine Chords.
The baritone part is sung by Pat Lanphier, a recent Florida transplant. Pat has been with the Hernando Harmonizers since 2007. However he has been singing barbershop since 1971, and has sung in quartets and choruses in five different chapters - two in Wisconsin, two in California, as well as the Harmonizers.
Booking agent for the Pine Chords quartet is Pat Lanphier, 686-6598, email patlanphier@yahoo.com.

SoundByte

SoundByte is a new chapter quartet but all four members have significant past quartet experience.

The most senior member, that is the OLDEST, is the Bass, Bill Manion.Bill is a 45 year veteran of the Barbershop Harmony Society now singing in his 15th registered quartet.         Our Tenor, Gene Schuh, is a 30-year member of the Society. This is Gene’s third quartet. As a “snowbird”, Gene also sings with the Championship Southern Gateway Chorus of Cincinnati and an Ohio quartet, appropriately named Summertime.  Jay Gettig sings that most difficult part, Baritone. To show his versatility, Jay also sings Tenor with the Championship Heralds of Harmony chorus in Tampa. This is Jay’s third quartet.  Last but certainly not least, is our Lead, Paul Just. Paul is our youngest member and a retired mathematics teacher from Connecticut. This is also Paul’s third quartet. His first was a fine Connecticut group, Rare Occasion, which included Bass Bill.  Booking agent for SoundByte is Gene Schuh, 352-684-7931.E-mail: genesch6@juno.com
